I am on the USPS website trying to catch up with some older issues -- some are sold as blocks of 4, some as strips of 4. There is the poet sheet that is available either as a full sheet of 20 with edging or as a block of 10. Big difference in price if I get the largest option of everything so I can cut it down when the Scott pages arrive.

So is there a way to find out in advance whether Scott pages will provide room for the strips / blocks / sheets of any particular stamp set?

Yes. Scott albums are laid out like the Scott catalog. So, if you see new issues described in the monthly Linns Stamp News, se-tenants will have a description next to them (e.g. Horizontal strip of five, or block of four, etc). That's the way Scott albums will lay them out. If two formats are listed (e.g. block of four or vertical strip of four), the first format is almost always used on the Scott Album pages.

If each stamp on a sheet is unique, the Scott will have you mount the whole sheet, selvage and all.

If you don't have a Scott catalog or linns subscription, just post the stamps you're looking for on SCF and someone will be happy to look it up.
