I am off work for the next two days... so a few musings for all of you...

I don't just go to the local (National-level) stamps show... I am on the Show Committee in charge of the OPS (Ottawa Philatelic Society) Youth Booth.

We have our first meeting next Monday. We have to figure out the theme of the show for OEAPEX 2009 (last year, ORAPEX 2008, it was the 400th Anniversary of the Founding of Québec). We also have to get the show cancels made by Canada Post, and organise the dealers who will attend the bourse and get the judges in place, from the RPSC (Royal Philatelic Society of Canada), and get the exhibits in.

We have eight months to do all of this.

It's lots of fun. Hey, I'm going to go to the show anyways, I may as well do something useful whilst I am there, eh?

David

Ok...i was thinking this anyway...David Giles..you are a true philatelist..you give back to the hobby in many ways getting involved with Orapex...being a recruiter for organizations you belong to like the APS and Topical collectors..yes I have seen your name in the magazines for having recruited new members...A little credit where credit is due ! I have seen you at Orapex enjoying yourself and being of service at the same time...that is its own reward!!

That's a lot of hard work!

Yikes! Fat fingers... the show is called ORAPEX 2009. ORA = Ottawa R. A. (Stamp Club), PEX = Philatelic Exhibition.

Way to go David!

I wish I had an opportunity to get involved here! I live in a stamp collecting wasteland.

LaSwabbie: You could always try to set-up a local stamp club, eh?

Way to go David

I really should look up the local club now that I'm not clocking in so many hours. Actually I think there is a stamp show in Moncton today. I forgot all about it maybe I'll try to skip down.
