These were found on a quilt stretcher box sent from Montgomery Ward back in 1962. Please let me know if these are rare or not. I was going to get rid of the quilt thing and noticed the stamps. I am in NO way a collector and don't even know how to figure PSS type or anything. Says MW Feb 62

Very common Stamps. They are known as "Pre-Cancelled" Stamps, unfortunately the value for the 5 together on a parcel is minimal. The general rule of thumb with US Stamps is anything newer than 1940 has little value, there are exceptions, but not many.

I agree on the valuation - but, even modern precancel stamps can have significant value.
Keep posting pictures please.

Unfortunately, the advice you have been given about the stamps having value is all but true. However, as a stamp collector, I would be inclined to save the stamps along with the address label from Montgomery Ward by carefully cutting around the Montgomery Ward address label and the stamps.

I know it's not valuable, but you could easily take a utility knife and cut around the stamps and the MW Label (which appears to simply be affixed to a cardboard box) and have a nice collectible.

Sure, the Montgomery Ward precanceled stamps are common, but having the stamps next to an original Montgomery Ward delivery label from Fort Worth, Texas is a lot less common and would make for an interesting collectible. (The stamps are often collected, but the MW label is often forgotten about.)

Thanks for the info. I put it on ebay... surely someone would want this for a collection. I don't want to throw out anything somebody might want. I appreciate it.
