Hi all, I have a Titanic - Uncut Press Sheet that I would like to get framed in such a manner as to not diminish it's future value. I've framed single stamps before by just putting them in a sleeve and putting the acid free mat over the sleeve. The problem here is that I don't think a sleeve of this size is even made. Has anyone here framed such a large philatelic item? Thank you! Sleveen

I have a framed Canada 125th anniv of the RCMP uncut press sheet. My wife had it done by a custom frame shop. All archival materials, glassine backer, sealed in the frame, non- glare glass. Very nice and it has held up well but, as I recall, it was EXPENSIVE. Funny, I plan to do the same thing with my Titanic press sheet. |

You need to make sure the glass filters all UV light to prevent the stamps from fading. There is an A C Moore near me that will do it all with acid-free archival material and UV filtering glass. But it costs a LOT. |

Yes, you CANNOT allow sunlight or fluorescent lighting to fall on your stamps. Both will eventually cause serious deterioration. |

Doug is 200% correct. I personally would advise against it. It's ultimately your choice but make sure you do all your homework and be prepared to pay a bit. See if maybe there is some other format to display it that doesn't have the risks associated lik maybe a reproduction or high resolution copy of it? Best of luck! ~Jeff |

Canada Post is still selling the sheet, everyone seems to have a sheet of the limited run of 5000 (no longer do they mention the 5000 on there website) if I was you I would buy a second sheet and frame that and save the $$$ on the framing job. I don't think these sheets are really going to go up in Value much. I bought 5 sheets 2 before the error news and 3 after the news. But will have to wait till Uni-trade comes out with the CV . I have been following the errors on ebay and they are not commanding the high prices they did shortly after the news |

Thank you everyone for your response. I am not much of a stamp collector. I collect Newfoundland stamps.... other than that I only have stamps where the subject is of particular interest to me. As an example, I have a set of four Bermuda stamps depicting the cruise ship The Queen Of Bermuda which I have framed, as my father served on her. I've always been interested in anything Titanic and I thought the Titanic - Uncut Press Sheet was very suitable for framing. Like any piece of art I want to ensure that I don't do any harm to it while displaying it. Someone suggested that sealing it in mylar before framing it, might be an option?? |

Probably not good to "seal" it. That's like sealing albums - it traps inside whatever dust, bacteria, and mold spores present at the time.
Stamps need to breathe, but you can't supply them with polluted air or hot air or cigarette smoke, etc. |

doug2222, You are probably right. I'll probably just fold the mylar like a big sleeve. |
