I saw that there were at one time several states that had drive up windows at Post Offices, but now only Brewer ,Maine still has one. Now that's a cool idea that I think they need to bring back!
I know, I know, just another way for us to burn up more gas--waiting at the drive-ups--oil companies would love that and maybe they would offer to fund putting the windows back in for the Post Offices.

Hey Gussy

I still don't use drive through at Tim Hortons cause I don't like to let the car idle.

I know what you mean, Dianne. But I still see folks (and I'm guilty of this too) waiting and idling at the bank drive-up windows!

My US Bank offers stamps via their ATM machines. So I guess that is drive up postage purchasing.

You order up your stamps at the drive up window and the clerk asks if you'd like fries with that! They could serve up USPS combo-deals.

I like the "combo deal" modern-who! That's about the only way they'll make $. The USPS says it's strapped for $--the economy, changes in the way we communicate-internet, etc, etc. Makes sense that they now make our stamps unsoakable.... NOT !
A "reader's opinion" letter in Linn's says it all--they're making unsoakable stamps so that eventually they won't have to CANCEL our stamps. They will then save $ on that part of the process and then attempt to turn a profit.

I'll take mine with fries and a milkshake, please!

The only drive up windows we have in Louisiana (other than fast food) are the drive through windows at liquor stores - believe it or not.

You are so right, modern_vue! Sorry I didn't catch your post about it a while back.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they make decent $ from us collectors.

We don't have drive up service but we do get free lunch time delivery or pick up. Small town when you eat lunch with the postmaster you get things picked up and delivered without ever going to the post office.
