I never heard this before. A very interesting read which in my opinion displays an overreaction by NASA and politicians. A reprimand could have been in order but the actual results seem harsh.
If astronauts sneak behind the backs of NASA and try to make a profit from being in the space program, then they shouldn't be surprised by the negative, punitive reaction. They could have probably redeemed themselves by donating the covers to a charitable organization.
