Here are some coil stamps attached to the original "packaging" or whatever, and both include the front and back of the coil I suppose. These are Scott #839 and #841 and the latter includes a line pair.

But can someone tell me what exactly I have here using standard postal terminology? Is this how some collectors collect coils? Is there additional value in having the coils in this format?

coil leader strips.... uncommon but not really valuable especially for the low denominations.

I just looked at the last two dozen coil leader strips that sold on ebay, and was very surprised to see that nearly all of them were precancels. Would not have expected that!

Thanks. Now I have some terminology ("coil leader strip") to use in a search.

I see there are coil leader strip first day covers (FDCs) also:

I never knew there were such things. But don't think I want to collect them (at least not yet).
