Coming back from Vermont yesterday my friend Joe said, "you know its a shame"....i said what is ? he said there were no kids at the stamp show.... you know..he was right...but kids do not get to a location by themselves...if the young parents or a grandparent do not bring them ??????? Apparently the senior citizens attending the stamp show do not think their grandkids have the interest to attend...my wife purchased a large carton of the German SAFE hingeless pages..some still in unopened packages...i think we counted at least 150 pages..the dealer wanted 75 dollars...she only had 60 dollars on her...he was not too happy..but she got her pages for $60 !!

I honestly can't say if there are less kids today in the hobby. When I started out there wasn't one other person my age that I knew collected stamps. I grew up in a pretty large school district but we still knew most things about our school mates. To tell the truth we didn't even have any interest for a stamp club.

About 5 years ago I was interviewed at the annual Bloomington IL stamp show "Cornpex" by the Pantagraph newspaper because...my wife and I appeared to be the youngest people there at the time in our 20's. It was a brief interview, but it was published and I was mentioned and quoted.

I know when I have attended my clubs annual stamp bourse, which is coming up on Oct 26th in Springfield IL, that I rarely if ever see a person under my age there. It is rather disappointing and sad.

At 46 I would probably be on the young side at the local show if it weren't for the fact that I bring my 6,7, and 10 year old children with me!
