I was pleasantly surprised to flip open the newest issues of American Philatelist and see a photo for the new issue of 1950's classic american cars. The photo included the us highway route 66 shield! Too bad there was not an article to go with it, just the stats on the stamps and postal cards. I did combine my 2 topical collections for an unofficial first day of sale postmark from Springfield IL with the 1957 Lincoln Premiere stamp and a cachet including the route 66 shield and a lincoln highway medallion. Now I just have to figure something else out for the other 4 stamps
