Hello, my name is Richard.
Accidentally found this forum while doing a Google search for slogan cancels.
Been a collector since about 1969. My special interest early Spanish stamps, but I collect lot's of different things.

If anyone here has spent any amount of time on the old ebay stamp chat, then you might recognize my username.

Not sure how much help I can be to anyone here, but I'm perfectly willing to offer my 2 cents on things.

Oh man! I remember Stampoffers! Great place it was. I haven't been too involved with collecting anything the last 4 or 5 years, mostly due to the bad economy (hardly any excess money for stamps!).

Haven't bought anything in a long time so now I am resorting to the more mundane tasks of collecting, such as soaking and sorting stuff I already have. And now I am going to try and do some identifying of US machine and hand cancels (again, on items I already have).

I'll probably be doing a lot of snooping on this forum and asking questions when I get stumped.

Thanks guys!

I guess I can expand on what other types of things I collect.

Like I said, my main collecting interest is early Spain, although I also maintain a general Spain & Colonies collection as well, including some BOB.

I do live in the U.S. however, so from a young age I've always maintained some sort of general U.S. collection. My current U.S. collection is housed in a vintage Scott National album, printed in 1949.

Some of the other things I "collect" are:
Postcards - I'm a sucker for looking through boxes of postcards at flea markets. I like to look for Doane cancels, RFD's, Xmas seals, auxiliary markings, postage dues, or whatever else catches my eye.

Another side collection I have are Washington Bicentennials on cover, but not the typical cacheted event or FDC's. I like mundane, non-philatelic usages, whether it's a solo usage or different denomination combinations.
