i found these in my covers.
is this a double cancel?
i am not sure what has happened here.

i am always the asking one.

It looks like it to me Dan, but I'm certainly not a US cancels expert. Dave or one of the others will be a better source of information.

I am no expert either. But it appears that the postmark on the left is a receiving postmark due to the later time of day and the addressee and addressor both were in the same town.

Both covers have the same strike. My educated guess is that they were stuck twice going through the cancelling machine. This is most plausible if it was a manual (ie. hand-cranked versus electrically powered) canceller.

Nothing fancy nor rare, here, but nice for a machine cancel collector.
