you all got me looking at cancels.
i am not sure what this cancel says.
does the cancel just not seem the right era for the stamp?

Possibly Springfield or Bakersfield, ......does not seem out of place to me.

Looks like an oval with the city in the center that seems to have been pretty common at the time.
