I packed all that I could in Plastic file containers, 5 of them, and hoping they will not see water. Not going to be good here on Long Island.

Its even made the news here in the UK. They said it would affect quite a few states and many thousands of residents. Best of luck with it. |

I would then put the plastic file boxes inside a 30 gallon trash bag and tape it closed, and put that inside another trash bag, and finally a third trash bag.
Then think to stack them in the highest part of an interior room, not on the floor. No doubt the humidity inside your house will be high for a week or two, regardless of whether any water gets in, so leave them sealed up. |

Florida here and Joe please take my advice,if your near the water over there, get the heck outta there asap before the roads get so packed you wont be able to get out of you wanted to..and I would take your collection as well..storm surges are POWERFUL and take everything in its path.. saying 8' surge ,,then you add the waves on top of that,,and for how many hours will it last.. Dont want to sound like gloom and doom here, but please trust me and dont stay there..storm is supposed to increase in power also yet... |

@UFOMAIL I am on the North Shore of the Island but not near the water, 147 Feet above sea level, more worried about the wind and flying debris than anything else, and if you know Long Island getting off of it on a Sunny day is hard. |

Safety first- Stamps can be replaced! At 500 miles across pretty well the whole eastern seaboard is a target plus full moon and high tides . Actually supposed to feel this one in great lakes area. |

God only knows what that massive storm is going to do when it hits the massive cold front coming down from Canada. The USA weather experts do not know what is going to happen.
At the minute 90mph winds will persist in one spot for 25hrs if the storm keeps traveling at 20mph.
As this storm hits the cold front the storm, even going north, will get stronger.
It covers 1,500 miles in width.
When the hot air meets the cold does it create those twisters?
That is one very bad situation to be in as we know very well here.
We will keep all the people in our prayers. God help them all.

They are calling it a Frankenstorm. We're expecting to get drenched here in Southern Ontario as well. Though I guess nothing like on the coast. Good luck! |

Every school in my area is closed, It's already snowing and wind is sort of threatening. My wife and I put all the animals in the barn and all stocked up. Were supposed to lose power for a few days (that's just a prediction) so generators all gassed up..scary stuff! Everyone in its path please take good care and good luck! -Jeff |

This is rare, I lived here in Maine for 40 years. Usually hurricanes get this far north and whimper out because of the cold. We had a good one in 1985 Gloria, last year Irene, which whimpered, here anyway. This one they are talking snow. Snow and a hurricane? Run for the hills, seriously I would move away from the coast.(if you can) This one could be bad. I am about 45 miles inland, and this storm seems to be coming in a long way south of here. Good luck to Joe on Long Island. |

I do hope everyone is safe. I don't want to sound insensitive, but does anyone know of a good Earth Cam that I can monitor the storm on?

All the schools in my area are closed, but my wife's college is still open for whatever reason. Stupid. My work has been called off for today and tomorrow which means more time to work on stamps and covers unless the power goes out. I'm hoping the Green and Berkshire mountains block the worst of the storm in my area. |
