It all started in late 1916 when the Bureau started local precanceling. At first these experimental's would of been easy since it was only three cities. That was later expanded to include 9,500 bureaus.
Now if that isn't hard enough if you count the locally printed types this number jumps to 42,000 varieties.
I have started a precancel collection. I focus on Illinois and route 66 towns. I have to sort a gallon ziplock bag and cigar box that I can't seem to find time for.
Morning mkfarm and Dianne, Through the years I also have accumulated about a quarter of a shoe box of these. Is I sort lots in they went. Starting to see more and more people having a interest in these. The things one keeps.
