I am new to this community and this is my first post. I collect the 1869 three cent Pictorial on cover. I acquired an RPO that I cannot identify. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any clue from the cover itself as to who it was addressed to (what city or town?)

Right - I should have included that. Lebanon, New Hampshire. When I google that with railroad, I find information about a railtrail built on an old railway line.

The Northern Rail Trail is a multi-use rail trail in western New Hampshire, USA, currently 48 miles (77 km) in length from Lebanon to Franklin.[1] It uses the right of way of Boston & Maine's former Northern Line that was acquired by the State of New Hampshire in 1996. The trail is managed by the NH Bureau of Trails.

So maybe the first letter is L for Lebanon? Many of these RPOs have the city abbreviated with just one letter.

Hi Paul welcome. I think the second letter may be an "&" sign. I can't read the next four letters but if you can let us know.

I think the second word could be "east"?

(although "L & East" doesn't sound like any other railroad post offices I know of).

You found information on Rails-to-trails. That actually goes right through my town. It's basically the old Rail Road tracks (minus the old tracks)and paved into walking, hiking & bicycle trails.

Any chance the first letter is a 'C' and not an 'L'?
