Here's a cover franked with an unusual flag. A closer look shows it isn't actually a flag stamp but a seal from Amvets.

If you have examples of other non-stamps that have carried the mail, post them here!

Interesting item! It has an early regional mail sorting center cancel as well.

Good eye, T360. I thought I was the only one who looked at those sort of postmarks. Being an Americana Series specialist, I collect the postal history of the era, too.

Hi All
Back In The seventies there was a Collector that specialized in
illegal Usage of the mails.

He Had A Display at one of the local shows And was Very Interesting.
One Of The Frames Shows Canada #753.
This stamp was cut In two and used on two covers.
Most Of The display shows that he manufactured the item and mailed to himself.

Here's another, from New Jersey to Wyoming offices, too, a couple of years earlier with an American Bible Society seal masquerading as postage.

I wounder if these people thought those were real stamps when they used them.
