I have a #112 with the left side a 11 1/2 perf and the other three perf 12. I have measured 20 times to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I measured with a Showgard, a Scott Multi Gauge and a Stanley Gibbons gauge. Anyone hear of this error or have one?

Some people just seem to hate straight edges and can't resist trying to "fix" them.

I recall a very valuable Mailometer type III pair that apparently had a straight edge on one side. Someone thought they would "even" it out, but mistakenly added Mailometer type II perfs, essentially making it a worthless pair.

The low values of the 1869 were printed from 300 subject plates (20x15) with 6 guide arrows. The left and right margins had guide arrows between horizontal rows 5-6 and 10-11 and one guide arow in the top and bottom margins. The sheets were split into panes of 150 by cuttin vertically through the top and bottom arrows.

Your stamp in position R141, note the guide arrow at the lower right. Quite a shame that someone destroyed a nice guide arrow single to reperf a stamp that is so easily detectable as reperfed.

I'm sorry to hear that your stamp has been re-perfed, but I'm not the least bit surprised. This stamp is esp tough to find well centered and if it had been left alone, it would have been a real gem.

They may have reperfed it as part of a repair job. There is a major tear starting from the middle part of the left side extending into circular frame of dots. Still, a nice stamp.

I seem to recall one called "Circle of V's" but could have been "Circle" of something else.

The cancel has been referred to as a "Circle of Wedges."

Also, I agree, the stamp has definitely been re-perfed; a quite common practice by early stamp dealers. "Re-perf Kits" use to offered in early stamp trade papers.
