Another member, rlorenz, made a comment in the cover
forum about 'telephones', and it made me think about
these. I have a bunch of them, all for the same person.
These are 2 better ones. Some are 2c and some 3c. Most
were opened from one side or the other unfortunately.
There are a few good ones, not many though. They all
still have the bills inside. Hope they got paid!

My family moved from western PA to Florida in the 1950s.

So yes and no... I have very deep roots there, but I am
not from there myself. I have only been there once or
twice in my lifetime.

I have relations that I have never met in New Kensington,
Freeport, Slate Lick, etc...

I don't know if I am related to Mr Kountz or not... I
have dozens of pieces of mail with that name from
the 1880s to around 1940. Maybe over 100 pieces.

My Dad collected all this stuff, and he was raised
in New Kensington.

My Dad always had stories about running with "gangs"
of kids with names like 'Lower Burrel Boys' and such.

I believe his yearbooks say "Arnold", IIRC.

There were two different school districts at first Arnold & New Kensington now called Valley. I'm not sure when they merged. The New Kensignton High School Book was called the Taleoken in the early 50's.

It was Arnold for sure then.
He dropped out and headed to 'Nam in 66 or 67.

Edit:
Yeah, he went in the military in 66.
His Uncle moved to Pensacola around 54, and
the rest of the immediate family gradually
followed. By the 70s Dad bought his house here
that he would eventually retire from the
Army into in 89. So this is home to me.
