So I recently purchased an awesome sheet of Sc 467 with the double 5c error (pictures forthcoming).
I wanted to get an opinion on how to best frame / display this item. Should I take it to a framer and have them put in a museum-quality frame or can I utilize a double sided glass frame so I can see both sides?
Either way I will post a pic soon so you can have a look and thanks in advance for the advice!

Grats! Perhaps a nice digital scan would display just fine? I'd be nervous about displaying something this rare. |

The "problem" with displaying scarce/valuable stamps such as these (apart from the obvious concern about theft) is that it has to be confined to a location where light will not discolor the stamp(s) over time.
Although I can understand your desire to "display" something of that sort for all to see, common sense suggests that the specimen be best preserved for long term storage by carefully placing it in a mount and have it stored on an album page. The album can always be taken out and shown to visitors/guests at will, but to have it framed within a wall display for any period of time could be detrimental, as even the most minor discoloration will diminish its value over the long term.
Better left to a stamp album, in my opinion. |

I agree with a high resolution scan/print would be best. If done right, only you will notice the difference |

This so much sounds like a thread we had last year about displaying rarities or something close. I also echo wt1 and Mike on this. Too rare to hang up and let the atmospherics completely decimate it, or it get stolen! |

I agree with the above sentiments, hang up a very good scan, but don't hang up the real sheet. |

Unless someone knows the actual value and is a philatelic theif - I think in plain sight would be the safest place right beside the declaration of independence. I do fully agree though that sunlight will eventually be a bad mix. Most of the modern art work lithographs and such are done not only on acid free but UV protected papers . I do believe for a handsome fee a good framing gallery can offer UV protected outter material but its still a risk. On the other hand (thats 3 hands so far) we always preach about collecting the way it makes you happy and in a nice man cave this would look nice. Awaiting pics! |

Quote: So how many of the 5˘ Stamps are in a pane? Using Scott as the lone guide, there could be a pane with (1) 5c stamp or (2) 5c stamps. What I'm not clear on is how many plates there were and the different positions on those plates. If I read the catalogue correctly, one of the 5c stamps is in position to be a part of a plate block. |
