As I often do, I mailed to myself examples of the Muscle Cars of the 60s and 70s stamps, looking for unofficial first day of issue postmarks showing that the stamps were postally used on that date.
Of the five stamps sent from the northeastern part of Massachusetts, I find two varieties of spray-on postmarks were used (one is on two lines and the other on three lines) as shown below:

Not that it makes much difference, but is this representing a new print head installation on existing mail equipment, or possibly new mail equipment that postmarked one example as compared to the other?
