I now have quite a few stamps in my topical on triangle/diamond shapes(thanks to some people here). I want to start getting them into a homemade album. This is my 1st try at setting up a topical album.
My question...how do I set it up?? Since there are so many different subjects on the stamps, do I set it up by country? Or is there a better way to do it?? I would love to set it up by subject, but that might be a little too much..?
Would love to have input on this, since it seems like all of you have topical albums.

Thanks!

The easiest way some set one up as I have seen is buy date or continent. This is easy to change anytime with printing out your own. Have fun.

I think that you should set it up the way you would enjoy it most.

I would think that doing it by subject wouldn't be any more difficult than by date or country . That way you could almost have topicals within your topicals and you wouldn't have to worry about getting the stamps in order of date. I have seen many triangle stamps with different subjects, Animals, mushrooms bugs, olympics ect...

I think if I was setting up a topical of this nature I would probably do it by subject.

In my opinion......

The easiest way to find things to see if you need an item or not, is to have your pages set up alphabetically by country, ....just like almost all albums.

As you noted, many stamps could fit into many different categories. If you have your pages set up by categories, you may need to search them all every time you look for something.

I would agree with Tom. I have a non-rectangular topical collection that I have arranged by date within country. It's a bit more expensive, but I also recommend using stock sheets like you can get from Subway Stamps or elsewhere. These allow you tons of flexibility, and you can move stamps around as your collection grows. You have an added advantage in that you can keep them in regular Office Depot binders.

To begin you could use stock pages or a stock book that way you can rearrange as needed without damaging the hinged stamps or your mounts. My wife has a disney collection that is alpha by country then in date of issue order. Right now my WW Lincoln collection is in stock pages in a 3 ring binder as it is still a small collection.

But in the end it is your collection and should be set up as works best for you.
