Submission For SCF To Be A Chapter Of The Aps?

Has the group ever submitted for admission into the APS as a chapter? I do not know what the requirements would be, but there are several APS members already members of SCF which could mean no annual dues. We would be listed on their website, in the monthly magazine, and in literature. This could be a great way to gain more membership for SCF and the APS. I know that the virtual stamp club is a APS chapter and has even had booths at some major stamp shows including Washington 2006.

Stamperdude you are pretty sharp..you come up with some good ideas..the only rub is we would need 1/3 of the members to be APS members..that would be tough with a lot of newbies..with the oldtimers it would be no problem..i have tried to get free dues for our stamp club..but I always come up just a triffle short on at least 12 members and 1/3 of the total club membership..by the way I enjoy being your agent for Lincoln memorabilia in the East..makes me feel like one of the dealers to the millionaires in days of old

I couldn't remember what the ratio was. Thanks. I wonder how the VSC does it? My mind wonders a lot at work, so I use my internet access for evil. I keep waiting for them to report me for abuse. I enjoy having you as my Lincoln dealer, if only I could afford more.

I should be more vocal at my stamp club meetings, but I get nervous around all the old timers (some are grumpy). LOL I prefer to talk in small groups or on on one. It is easy to type away online and be able to form your thoughts at your own pace. I try to offer insight, support, and advice when I can. It is like being at work, I'm in management.

Josh, not to worry I am not going to $$$ extend myself $$$ in my search for honest ABE.but you never know I may hit a good one someday that no one else seemed interested in..you get first pick ! I have been seeing quite a bit about Lincoln lately..he was a very wise man..when he selected his cabinet..he did not fill it with his cronies..in fact he picked some men who actually hated him..but he felt they were the best for the job !!

I just sent an inquiry to Connie Swartz about becoming an APS chapter to see exactly what is required and if it can be done somehow.

Chapter dues are $45 per year just like individual dues..i have the club dues bill to pay now...IF we could equitably swing 45 bucks a year I am sure they would love to have us..we would need a secretary or chapter representitive as a mailing address..if it looks like its going to fly I will kick in a few bucks towards the dues !!

I know how you feel! Its a good thing that I'm the one doing the checking at my school. I'm not going to report myself.

I will also throw in a few bucks if everyone wants to do this.

I'll even volunteer to help or do the paperwork or be the contact if Bobby and Tom want me to.

Guys Im in as well ! who knows maybe we can even set up a scf table at some of the bigger shows. The theme of our show this year josh also will include Lincoln. I was looking at the proofs for the show cancel and cachets I think you would like them (hint)

Swabbie,Rick, Tom I certainly do not expect everyone on the forum to jump for joy or be excited about APS membership..those of us who are members know it will give prestige to the forum..the APS will put us in print and membership will grow .....Greg thanks for offering to handle the paperwork...everyone who is a registered member of SCF will be able to use our Chapter number when visiting Hq. at Bellefonte Pa. and be able to take advantage of the APS library and circuit book sales department....

You guys and gals work out the officers..... I will gladly pay the dues. How you like dem apples?

I agree Phil - This has to be a no brainer win-win-win situation. If none of you objects, I'll do some research tomorrow and let you know exactly what we have to do, what the requirements are, etc.

One person will be appointed APS representitive`..hes the main man that interfaces with APS..if we need a president we can put up a figure head like Bobgggg !
