I have been busy working on some of my older stamps (placing them into their proper places in my book) and have come across several I cannot ID. I apologize in advance for there being so many. Thanks so much.

Look through 1873 - 1885, give or take a few years.

Does that "Black Jack" have a grill upper right of center by chance? (flip the stamp over)

the 4 cent Lincoln is either 254 (with no watermark) or 269 (with Double line USPS watermark) or 280....the only difference between 254/269 and 280 is color....254/269 is "dark brown" 280 is "rose brown" Check for the watermark first.

the 4 cent green Jackson is 211, the 2 cent brown Washington is 210, the 2 cent Green Washington is 213 and the 5 cent Grant is 223

FYI, to the original poster. The numbers bstrent has listed are Scott catalog numbers. (Not sure if you know that or not)

Thank you so much for the help. Those websites are great, I have bookmarked them.
As for the 10 cent, I may never know what Scott # this is because it is postmarked over the secret mark.
I will have to buy some watermark fluid for the Lincoln.
As for the blackjack, it is grilled but I have looked thru my reference material and online and cannot figure out what kind of grill it is. I feel so dumb here. Is there anywhere I can go to gain more knowledge of grills?
Here is a picture of the back of the stamp.

Hey ilovelabbies don't beat yourself up. If anyone can help or know here they will. There are a lot of what I stamp gurus here at SCF and they are generally happy in helping stamp enthusiasts out like you and myself. If they don't know (which is very seldom) they will put you on the right track. Love this place!!

stallzer, thank you for mentioning that site on grills.

It appears I have an E grill, which notes this is uncommon for the Jackson stamp. Does anyone else think this is most likely an E grill?

Thanks.

I agree, I count 14 rows and 16 columns, that would be an "E" grill.

The 10 cent looks like a re-engraved Scott 209.
