Hey everyone,
I recently bought a paper lot at an auction and in this paper lot was this envelope with this stamp on it. I can't find much information about it and am hoping someone here can help me.

If anyone knows anything about this stamp and/or value, that would be great. Thanks.

I'll take a stab at it and suggest it is probably a Scott U10. My 2011 catalog suggests the list value for a used "entire" cover is $6.00. However, do be aware that there are numerous varieties of that envelope on various papers and in various paper colors that could significantly adjust that value up or down. It's certainly collectible, but the tear at the top and the bent corners will typically detract from its value on the secondary market.

Someone specializing in US Postal Stationery may be able to offer you more information.

Hi, postal stationery specialist here. Yes, a U10. Nice, clean imprint. Shame the cover is torn. Typical buff with toning best I can tell from the picture.

The cancel is what fascinates me.

Looks like someone wrote that it was a U10 on the lower left corner of the cover.

I love postal stationary and collect it, but don't have enough knowledge yet to comment any further.

Did somebody add the word "Ohio" once or twice (?) to the cancel on the cover? In ink? And again at the bottom right? Not sure what I'm looking at, an act of vandalism, or additional postal marking(s).

The tear at the top can be fixed so it's much less unsightly, but it must always be mentioned in a sales description.
