I've think I may have located the "REAL DEAL" Scott#233 "BLUE ERROR"
Note-I am uploading an image of a #233,one that is NOT a "BLUE ERROR",and one that I believe to be the "REAL DEAL".

Those tiny scans don't help much. When trying to determine a scarce shade you really do need to compare it side by side with a certified example or two. Scans most times don't reflect exact color then toss in all the different computer graphics cards and monitors and you end up with quite a few different interpretations.

Glad to see this thread still active after three years. Here are good photos of 233a. Notice the deep rich saturation of color, and the area in the clouds is strongly detailed. Wish I had one!

Definitely different. The two side by side ultramarines are different shades/tints of Ultra, but definitely not the error. Ultramarine to me at least has a little bit of red mixed in..giving it a more purple tone. But in defense...I do get a slight chill if I find a real BRIGHT 233 in a batch of Columbians..then I remember the old adage: "if you think you have the more valuable, you don't...then I land back on earth. :)
