Besides the deplorable condition of this stamp I am sort of intrigued by this oddly dated cancellation. Does anybody know anything about it, or familiar with these at all? Thank you for any information about it.

That's really cool. I'll have to look into it to see more examples. Thank you warrehouse! I was always curious about this and I was on that page today so I finally got to scan it! I have another odd precancel as well. I'll just put it in this thread. It's just an odd looking font compared to other ones I have? Any precancel collectors know this one? Thank you again.

You will find hundreds of different fonts on precancels, mainly due to differing "local" printings.

Oh OK. Thanks. I been seeing a few different ones lately but this one just stood out a bit that's why I was asking in case someone may be able to use it/them. Maybe I'll put a bunch together and pop it in the auction section? Thanks again Doug!

I do not have a catalog of precancels, but the one shown from Miami, Florida appears to be a "mimographed" variety. As I look at the PSS pages, it appears that there were up to 15 different "mimeographed" precancels known for Miami alone!

Your first post is what is referred to as a "rolling precancel". Here's a copy I posted sometime ago (without the Montgomery Ward date):

Cool, I'll have to go through my collection and look for pre-cancels.
