Hello everyone,

My name is Wilfred, 48 years old, from The Netherlands.

As a boy I collected stamps (Holland and French Colonies for the most part) but unfortunately I sold my collection because I needed the money around age of 20. The hobby stopped at that time. I was especially interested, and still am, in the 'Sage' stamps (Peace and Commerce stamps). Not sure why, but I find these stamps very appealing. Maybe because of the variety in colors and values in one design.

Some years ago, my late father left me a stamp album of the Dutch Indies. That triggered the old spark of collecting again! From that time on I am quite addicted to collecting stamps. My main areas are France and French Colonies (yes, 'Peace and Commerce' again of course), Netherlands and Territories, Old Germany (<1945) and territories, and recently: classic US. In general, I like the classic stamps (<1940), especially series of heads (head of states), arms or numbers.

I like to combine this hobby with another hobby: programming and working on a PC. I created a stamp database in Access which helps me a lot in finding, retrieving and reporting. I scan all my stamps because I find the visual aspect of stamp collecting most important. In my collection database, I want to see the stamp itself . A lot of meticulous work - but that's how I like it. These old stamps with their history deserve some attention and research.

See you around !
