I was cruising CSA on ebay again and came across this incredibly crude example of a #11 counting down. Five bidders have raised their paddles for this bringing the total up to $15.50.
Either they have no idea what they are looking at, or, like me, they like a good forgery.

Here's one of my real #11s for comparison (ignore the colour difference)...

The fake looks like it's been badly drawn with a blue pencil. There appear to be some not bad areas at the bottom of the frame, which make me wonder if it's been drawn over a damaged stamp.

This is a reputable dealer, and I've emailed him about it, but its going to sell, so it'll be interesting to see if he speaks up.
Admittedly, I would have bid on it for my 'fake' collection if it weren't priced so high already. I love my forgeries, but I won't spend too much on them if I don't have to.

Reminds me of that woman in Spain that took a painting from her church to restore it and turned Jesus into a monkey

I heard the story of the lady in Spain. She meant well; she just wasn't a very good artist. Thankfully they were able to restore her restoration.

Actually, it's not too bad IF it was actually drawn with a blue colored pencil AND at actual size. It's not that easy to draw something like that, that small. Now, if it was originally drawn at a larger size and then reduced to the size of a stamp, then yeah it's pretty bad.

I guess you have a Point Spain. If that was drawn to size, impressive-ish.
I would have given up at the choosing the color point LoL.

Well, I'm not sure what to think now.
When I got home from work, I checked my email, and the seller had sent me a brief message,"item will be removed. thank you for advice"
But checking the listing on ebay I see it sold - 8 bidders, 11 bids - for $73.89.
Good for him I suppose. It was so obviously a fake, one hopes these bidders knew what they were in for, and were happy to pay for it. Caveat emptor, as they say.
But I'm not too keen on the seller any more, for telling me 'porkies'
Oh well, such is life. *sigh*

Many years ago I brought a parcel of stamps with CAS stamps mixed in with the parcel these came from ebay, one was a fake red John C Calhoun (one cent)which stands out as a fake as it's bright red also a 1 X 11 this one I thought was a die A or also could be a possible fake the other 1 X 12 I'm not to sure most likely a fake as well,All up I have 9 J.D's that very in colour or shape with only a few coming from the parcel,It would be interesting on knowing which ones are fake if not all and how many are real CSA that I have in the album.
