Hi all! I'm usually on coincommunity, but I have a few questions for all you stamp collectors! I remember buying these a few years back from Mystic Stamp Company through an ad. I just found them today in one of my Whitman albums and I was wondering what I could get if I sold them? They're a full 13 stamps set of WWII Stamps and a Commemorative 100th Ann. of US Postage. Also, can anyone tell me the story behind the WWII Stamps? Thanks!

They are pretty common and if you sold them you wouldn't have enough money for a meal at Burger King. |

Roosevelt pushed for the stamps of over run countries during WWII. There was a lot of push back about the Austrian stamp, however the president got his way and it was included. |

I forgot to add the price for the stamps. You can buy the full set of overrun countries MNH for $2.80. The CPIEX is .55 cents. |

HOWEVER...
There is some pretty good centering among these, so if you had them graded out coin-style and hit a GEM 100, it could be worth maybe $400-$500 if you could find someone fool enough to pay it. ;-) |

ah... thanks all!
But also, the post sheet has the gum, but the WWII countries don't have any. What does this mean? Are they supposed to be ungummed? |

As others have stated these are a common set. And actually the key to the set is Scott 916 Greece which goes for just a little more than the others. But if you ever come across the scott 921 Korea with a P instead of a A (KORPA) you have a nice little flaw worth about 20 bucks. |

When the overrun countries stamps were issued, collectors just returning from the war resumed working on their collections and were hungry for new stamps. They bought a lot of these attractive new issues. Additionally many people bought them as an "investment", thinking that collectors in the newly liberated countries would want to add them to their collections, and the high demand in Europe would eventually drive the price up. So many full sheets were saved, but the demand from collectors in the worn-torn countries never materialized. That is why they are still common and inexpensive today after nearly 65 years.
Your set is beautifully centered. Too bad they don't have gum. |

Wow! Very nice First Day Covers!
So these were mainly used in the United States right? As in, it was used on main originating in the US, not the countries with the respective flags. |
