Hi, Have just come across this forum. I am from New Zealand and my interest is a Thematic aircraft collection which is now quite extensive. I will be posting in the 'Let's go Flying' discussion as and when I can scan some of my material. Allen

Kia ora (I've just learnt that's Maori for welcome!) Allen, from the other side of the world (at home, we say "Benvingut"). I hope you'll enjoy your time here and share your collections and knowledge. Don't hesitate on asking anything. |

Good on you. Bob's your uncle Teal.
I'm married to a Kiwi and a NZ resident myself though living in San Diego now. But we split time in Hahei where we have a house.
So a big welcome and wasnt it great seeing the ABs thrash the Frogs in the 3 matches recently?
Don't be afraid to post or jump in (i just joined recently and only collect Newfoundland). My advice is check the Active and New topics every day. And if you have any questions, post it and you will get 10 answers
Cheers,

Thanks everyone. Feel really welcomed! Kaiora indeed. Have a question - is there opening for offering swaps on this forum? Have a large stock of duplicates which others may like. Allen PS - Oh yes, the All Blacks remain in their strong form. PPS - Answer found |

Kia ora, mema, mai I tauhou mema Mikaere Haki I nāia nei Ōtepoti, Aotearoa.
Hello :) I am a new member from Dunedin. I have been collecting for approximately two and a half years. I mainly only collect anniversary stamps (centennial, jubilee, bi-centenary, etc etc) from New Zealand. I have a very small collection of flawed stamps but it's not really what I'm in to. I was wondering if you knew anything about the New Zealand stamp featuring the upside down plane? I was told about it by a friend, but he only knew that at some point we produced a [flaw] stamp with an upside down plane! Do you know if this is correct?
(hope the māori is up to scratch, lol it has been a while since I spoke like that and I am, after all, pākehā!)

Mike Jack, Welcome. I'm a yank, but 17 years married to a Kiwi; we live half the year near Whitianga. Go Crusaders though! You both might enjoy this link on the board of a cool air mail cover that originated in some place called Dunedin... https://goscf.com/t/33610#33610Cheers |

Thanks Tommy. Yes, had seen that Clipper envelope on another forum. Mike: My Maori is virtually non-existant so your greeting is fine! The only inverted plane stamp I know about is the US one as attached. |

well, they really messed that one up lol or [do you know] was the inverted plane intentional or a MAJOR flaw? Thanks so much for your reply, I am of the impression that you are a very knowledgeable man with regard to aerophilately.. I may keep an eye (if OK with you) on your posts.. I am always keen to learn more. I have the New Zealand 1946 Peace 3d Aircraft stamp with the tail flaw. It's not worth a whole lot but my collection is more for my own interest and to pass on to my eldest son when he has my first born grandson. My youngest son has the coin collection, kids aren't cheep! But, I love collecting and I especially love the history that goes with it. I am very fond of New Zealand history and the stamps / coins are just another way of increasing my knowledge of our history. Very nice to meet you,,, and thank you for the photo :) |

Thanks for the link, tommy, very interesting thread :) I note that cover has a 1940 NZ centenary 5d stamp up top.... that's right up my ally (I have a few [UHM] full sets of this 1940 centennial addition) , and to think it is on a flight cover is very, very, cool! |

Mike, my understanding, and I can't say that I am very knowledgeable, is that this was a major flaw with the inverted Jenny. Worth quite a bit if you can find one. My area of interest is thematics aircraft/aviation only. Would like to get the first three early NZ airmail stamps but they are a little pricey. Have what I consider to be quite a large collection of aircraft stamps with quite a few duplicates. Like you, my collection is for my own interest although I have entered some displays in competition. Won a 'saphire' award for a 16 page entry some years ago on the first decade of aviation called "In the Beginning". I'm collecting material now for another 16 page display solely on the DC-3 aircraft. Where in NZ do you live? (PS - Oops, just saw in an earlier entry you live in Dunedin) Would be interested to see a scan of the 3d NZ Peace stamp with the tail flaw. Don't recall seeing this. Allen
