This is one of those "impossible" officials; either Scott #O22 @ $20, or #O103 @ $4500 mint and unpriced used. You have to be an expert in shades, paper, and imprint to tell them apart. Good luck with that!

Thanks, Doug2222. What you think about this Zachary on the scan (bottom row, right)?

It looks to be trimmed on 3 sides... but, margins are still pretty large?? Could it be imperf on 3 sides anyhow?

If you click of the photo, you will able to see it enlarged somewhat.

Never heard of an imperf on 3 sides. Most likely it was from a corner stamp on a cut line with 1 side scissored off.

This stamp is way before coils so it is impossible to have any 2 opposite sides imperforate, but it IS possible to have two adjacent, or touching sides without perforations. I see a partial guide arrow so it was most likely originally a straight edge on at least the bottom and probably the right side as well, so my guess is that it has been trimmed on the left side.

edit:
Changed some words around and spelling fixes.

Thanks Stallzer & ILS! It was probably trimmed, although is unusual why the "scissores" didn't trim and the remaining side, too... or why he have trimmed anything... perfs which still exist look pretty good, and I don't believe that same major faults ever existed on the trimmed side (stamps looks nice overall).

Btw. because I am not expert in these issues of the USA stamps... does any other stamp from this scan will be worthful of more investigation from my side? Possibly looking for the grills could be a smart movement? Or something else?
