I was looking up cancels to try and attribute one this morning, and I pulled up this image... and did a double take.

Apparently the only thing I really looked at initially was the cancel.

Who knows how many other similar stamps are in my collection that predate my looking for plate varieties? They get imaged and then put into the books, in some cases not to be looked at again for years.

I do not know anything about these stamps, but I see a few interesting items? First a dot in the left bottom corner; PNC-ers call this an LOM (Lay-Out Marker). Second I see a scratch ( or crack ) through the O of Proprietary? And thirdly: Is the right bottom side doubled, especially in the little circle? I am probably wrong on all points!

The last item, the doubling along the right side especially towards the bottom is what is of primary interest.

The 1st issue revenues are rife with exterior dots, guide lines, etc. See my thread from the other day about the 'eggs north' double transfer. That stamp shows a number of guide lines.

I collect Transportation Coils exclusively when it comes to US stamps. The first fifteen or so of these were printed on the Cottrell presses, and they are just like your first revenues. Full of dots, scratches, guide marks, plate cracks and so on! Somehow that seems to make a very interesting collection.
I do love your stamp, especially the cancellation on it! Peter

This DT was probably caused by slippage when the position was entered. The transfer roll twisted just a bit for a moment. Always fun to find things like this.
