Hi,
I am new on here as of today and happy to find this forum as I am in need of some help. A family member has left me with a stamp collection that needs to be sold. I have been doing some research and have posted a couple on ebay but would like to know if there is any way to have them looked at by someone on line and give me poss. suggestions on them. Or maybe a tutorial that is on line on selling them.
Thank you all in advance for your time.

A good starting place is to use the SEARCH button at the top of the page to search for the word inherit.

We are not sure how extensive the collection is that you inherited, but don't forget, it likely took the collector years, decades, a lifetime to accumulate it. To really know what you have may take some serious time and research.

i think you may need an appraiser...usually the previous owner has some record of what they spent and the current value...if that does not exist then the collector probably just lost interest and stopped collecting !It just not make sense for someone to leave a valuable collection for the next person without a clue as to what they have !!

What I am saying is...you should not have to do the research..it should have been laid out for you !

Hiring an appraiser is the last step before you give up. I'd say 80% of all appraisals are useless. And that's why I quit doing them, long ago, regardless of the bucks. Furthermore, coulda's, woulda's, and shoulda's don't count. Rant over...

Thank you!

This collection has been handed down two times now, this being the third. There are notes and values, but that was last written in the early 80's. There are stamps after that with no research done.

There is also a couple drawers with stamps world wide with only the stamp # and values crossed out a couple times. That was done by the person who first handed it down. Those seem to be early to late 1800's and early 1900's.

I thought appraisal, but didn't want to get taken advantage of. Not sure that I would, but was skeptical about having one down.

Thanks again for everyone's input. All help is appreciated!
