hi

i just got a 2007 scotts usa specialized.
i think it is good enough for me now
i just so not have the money for a new scotts
the question that I have is about newer age stamps and prephosphored paper.
how do you tel if it is coated?
how do you tell if it is mottled tagged?
what is a solid tag?

i think is saw a post about this but would like to know more.
i bet there are many nice items that people do not know about these terms also.

i just see some nice prices for some of these items.
i just keep looking to find that needle in the haystack.

thanks
dan

Solid Tagging is also referred to as:

Even Tagging - tagging that appears smooth or even when viewed under short wave ultraviolet light, as opposed to mottled or grainy tagging. An example is the 1995 Milton Hershey stamp, Scott 2933

Mottled Tagging - tagging with an uneven, rough, or dappled appearance when viewed under ultraviolet light, as opposed to even or grainy tagging. Some causes of mottled tagging are uncoated paper, worn tagging rollers, and offsetting of wet taggant ink when sheets are stacked. Example: 1991 Dennis Chavez stamp, Scott 2186
