Specifically for the Scott International Albums ...

Part I (Volume I) (AKA "Big Blue" ;-) covers 1847-1940
Part II covers 1940-1949
Part III covers 1950-1955
...and etc

For the U.S.

(Edit: You were talking about the catalogues and not the albums, right? My Bad. )

No, I'm talking about the albums. Might have an opportunity to pick up 8 volumes (1-6) and 2 of 1 and 3.

Just wondering where the US stamps might be

Well, as mentioned in my earlier post, the U.S. section is include for the years of a particular Part(Volume), which is defined by a time period. So again Part I (1847-1940), Part II (1940-1949), Part III (1950-1955), etc.

The U.S. section is always the first country in the albums.

Now this is the way the Parts (Volumes) came from Scott. But some collectors put all the time periods of a country together- in other words, rearrange the albums by country, rather than time period/country. You might want to ask if the arrangement is the original format, or has been changed. Hope this is understandable.

Good luck with the Internationals!

Some years ago, when I had Internationals, I rearranged them into country groups instead of chronological groups -- but adding a new album was a monumental task that required regrouping the binders too. Then I went with blank pages after 1980, but even that was a chore of adding pages, and removing them to mount stamps. I finally gave up, and not sure what advice I would offer now.

If I were starting over, knowing what I know now, I would buy a couple of thousand identical 2-sided stock sheets and forget about printed albums.

The Internationals are long since sold, but I still have a number of "country" collections left to deal with, $50 or less. Email me about YOUR favorite country.

Thanks Doug but these are just a set of Internationals from the 70s that should already be pretty packed with stamps. I'm still waiting for an interest in foreign stamps to come into my head. I always wanted a bookshelf full of Internationals though. If I can get these cheap enough, I'll grab them. Still working on the deal.

One word of caution, the #1 country that is removed out of these albums is US. followed closely by Canada, Great Britain, and nowadays China. Get photos of the first couple pages of the US section of Volume 1 and that is all you may need to know. I've been burned a-plenty picking up SI's online and finding parts missing, etc. Doug brought up the issue with collation. Keeping the SI's in parts is a pain to add stamps, but you won't have collation nightmares later. At the METROPEX show this weekend, there was a 25 volume run for $5,500. I'm not sure there were any takers. There was also a very nice and clean 1-4 run for $650.
