The Janis Joplin (Music Icon Series) stamp design has now been revealed as shown below:

In addition to Linn's Stamp News, it's already being made a featured story in Rolling Stone:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...led-20140630

Still no exact date or place of issue, though it will be issued sometime in August 2014.

At the link below, Linn's Stamp News has released the design of the upcoming Fort McHenry (War of 1812) stamp due for release in September:

http://linns.com/news/us-stamps/618...-bombardment

It is said this stamp, along with the Janis Joplin stamp, are featured in the 3rd Quarter edition of USA Philatelic that was supposedly released in "late June" -- although I haven't seen a copy in my mailbox yet (and the USPS website is still carrying the 2nd Quarter edition). I guess Linn's Stamp News gets an advanced copy.

I liked Janis Joplin's music , but I'm don't think the U.S.P.S. should be honoring drug addicted rock stars. This will be the 2nd in a possibly long series. Just sayin.

Linns Stamp News has posted more information on the pane layout and FDOI details for the upcoming Farmers Markets stamps, slated to be issued on August 7, 2014 in Washington, DC, including the fact that Press Sheets are going to be available (both with and without die cuts) at $49 each (5 panes of 20 stamps):

The USPS has finally gotten around to updating their Stamp Preview website with information on the Janis Joplin, Fort McHenry (War of 1812), Civil War and Korean War Medal of Honor issues:

The USPS just added the 2014 Canvasback duck stamps to its press sheet collection, with both the self adhesive ($350) and water activated ($1100) varieties.

I always wonder how many collectors there are for duck stamps press sheets though.

Anybody know how many duck stamps press sheets they print?

At least there's no with or without die cut varieties to choose from (but as stated earlier, there are the WAG and PSA varieties, though.)

Incidentally, is this Jr. Duck Stamp "commemorative card" a new offering? I don't recall seeing them offered before (but then I don't generally collect Duck Stamps):

I think the title of the web page is a mistake. Note that the title on the card itself does not mention that it is a Jr. duck card. In fact, the two stamps shown on the card are the 2014 regular duck and the 2011 regular duck. No Jr. duck anywhere.

I quote from the USA Philatelic quarter 3: " Junior Duck Stamps. Proceeds from the sale of Junior Duck Stamps are used to support a national art and environmental education curriculum for students in K-12.The first place national winning design is selected from the Best in Show designs from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories."

The last Duck press sheets Scott gives info on are the 2007 issue, with 500 press sheets each for both WAG & SA, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was lower now.

Just to note that the USPS 2014 Q3 catalogue is up for download on the USPS website (I also received the print version today). Surprisingly, some of the new issues (Janis Joplin, War of 1812) do not have their press sheets listed. I suppose they will be later on.

Linn's Stamp News is reporting that the Celebrity Chefs Stamps will be issued on September 26, 2014 in Chicago. No word yet on designs or those chefs depicted, even though Julia Child is rumored to be featured:

Better late than never announcement, I suppose. It seems a 2014 dated reprint of the Poinsettia Booklet Stamp is being issued -- tomorrow -- Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Hartford, CT:

I guess this makes something of a USPS "first", as I don't recall any US holiday stamp being issued as early as August -- even if it is just a reprint.

It seems you can order the stamp and the first day cover now on the USPS Store's website as shown at the following link:

https://store.usps.com/store/browse...tId=S_688617

Who knew?
