I guess we'll have to wait and see what it looks like, but I'm wondering about a stamped card commemorating a "Tree"? With all of the subjects that could be commemorated on a piece of postal stationery, this seems to be one of the most mundane subjects for a postal item I have heard about in a long time, especially when the USPS is so excited about commercializing the US stamp program.
By the way, something's wrong with the USPS reference to the stamped card. If a postcard rate stamp is 34 cents and the footnote at the bottom suggests that a stamped card is postage + 3 cents, that totals 37 cents (not 38 cents as referenced in the table listing.) An error has occured in there somewhere. |

It appears they've slipped in a 4th variety of the Star Spangled Banner for March 3 ... 2 booklets (CCL & SSP), a coil (SSP) & an ATM pane (SSP). |

Upon further checking, the stamped cards should correctly cost 38-cents. It's the postcard rate (34-cents) plus a surcharge for the card itself (4-cents).
The surcharge was erroneously listed in the footnote at the bottom of the New Issues page as 3-cents. |

The Wapo broke a story ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...age-stamps/) about subjects under consideration for issues through 2016. Take it FWIW but it looks like someone leaked a list. Is it really a rule that non-Americans cannot be depicted on stamps? I was not aware of that one. Wasn't Balboa (Vasco, not Rocky!) a non-American? General von Steuben? Lafayette? Leif Erickson? Dag Hammarskjold? Sun Yat-Sen? Dante Aligheri? Copernicus? on and on, I'm sure there are many more |

Quote: Is it really a rule that non-Americans cannot be depicted on stamps? No. In fact, they just revised the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee criteria for stamp subjects earlier this year and the first two paragraphs are pertinent to the question at hand and read as follows: Quote: 1. It is a general policy that U.S. postage stamps and stationery primarily will feature American or American-related subjects. Other subjects can be considered if the subject had significant impact on American history or culture.
2. The Postal Service will honor men and women who have made extraordinary contributions to American society and culture. These remarkable individuals through their achievements in their respective fields have made enduring contributions to the United States of America. If you want to read the entire criteria, checkout the link below: http://about.usps.com/who-we-are/le...ommittee.htmYou also have to keep in mind that some of the older US stamps recited in the previous post were issued long before the CSAC Stamp Subject Criteria was developed and -- in some cases -- even before the CSAC was established in 1957. |

All I can say is that the USPS is sure getting their money's worth out of the Wedding Cake stamp design! Five different denominations using the same stamp design. Don't you think it's about time the USPS comes up with a new idea? Surely there's other wedding-themed designs they can think of. |

Where are you getting that 70c Yes I Do Stamp illustration? The illustration looks a bit off, as the date (2014) is likely to be in the LL corner on the final copy. |

I just saw the full selection of the coming US Songbirds stamps, and I can't wait to get them! I CAN, though, wait to PAY for them. The Charlton Heston design, in my humble opinion, is awful. Most people know him from films where he was much younger. Why not an image from then? |
