I happened to be on Canada Post's website and noticed that they are selling panes of 20 of US Scott #4073, the Canada/US Joint Issue featuring the 1606 Voyage of Samuel de Champlain issued way back in 2006 at face value (except, of course, for current rate of exchange and shipping charges).

It's the first time I noticed that a seven-year-old US stamp ($0.39 face value) was available through that source:

I have a vague memory of a scheme where post offices would sell mint stamps from other countries. Didn't work out well. Canada Post probably found these stamps while house cleaning and having already paid out the money want to recover their investment.

The stamp referred to was a "Joint Issue" between the US and Canada, so I can understand Canada Post offering it for sale.

On the other hand, even today, the USPS is offering the UK's "Classic Locomotives of Northern Ireland" presentation pack. For train enthusiasts, I suppose it may be a nice offer, however, I think the recent UK "classic cars" issue would sell better over here.

I believe there was a minor difference between the US and Canada sheets. A lettering or copyright of that sort on Canada that is not present on the US sheets.
