Are These Precancels?

Here are two stamps that seem precancels, yet the letters appear too large comparing to some other ones I have or see around.

Yes, they are both precancels. Many cities, especially the larger ones like New York and Chicago, have dozens of different varieties of precancel imprints, some with significant differences; others with only subtle ones. All are collectible, although only a select few are likely to have more than nominal value.

yes...they are precancels.
I am not very familiar with pcs....(i have seen plenty)...but I do not recall
seeing the 8c type. Looks like just the frame borders are inked.
Would love to know from someone familiar.

I posted a similar one quite awhile ago (on a 1-cent stamp of that series) and was told it was just as a result of poor inking (Type 204). Here's the link:

The shift as on the 8cent is common, and usually reduces the value of the precancel.
