What would be a fair price to pay for a MINT but slightly hinged C-3? It may not be the inverted but it would be an opportunity to have a corrected version of this most famous stamp.

The price would depend on the degree of hinging,Light, heavy, remnants.
also the centering .
I personally do not mind hinging ,but centering is important.
I would Check Out The ebay site.
you can a pretty good sense of a fair price There.

An old 2007 Mystic catalog I have at work was a mint issue at $160.00. My 1995 H.E. Harris book has it for $140 VF with OG.

I use both for ID-ing at work.

A very attractive stamp, well centered for issue. OG with a hinge remnant. Everyone knows what (well centered for issue) means.

It has very nice margins and would be what I would call Fine/Very Fine. There is plenty of space between the design and the perfs but the stamps sets a little high so it is not centered.

No pulled perfs and great color with no other gum related problems, other than the slight hinge.

The asking price is $35.

I am no expert, but judging from your description
and the ebay research, 35 bux sounds "fair", just
as you seek. Not a steal, not a rip-off... Fair.

I always look at each individual stamp, taking in the centering and "freshness" of the stamp. Like some others on here a hinge remnant does not bother me that much unless my purpose would be to resell it, however that is rarely or never the case. Taking that into consideration its a matter of how bad I want the stamp. I am sure I have at times paid more then a stamp is worth, but as a collector I wanted it :), I also have gotten some great deals as well. So I would pay what the stamp is worth to you. There are some stamps I will never own, not because they are not available but because Its not worth it to me personally to pay the asking price. sorry if I rambled on, but I believe each collection is a reflection of the individual, and in such no two are the same or assembled the same etc ! HAPPY COLLECTING

There is no doubt I would like one of these. I'm pretty good on prices when it comes to used or MNH. However I'm not so sure how much a Mint with a hinge reduces the value.

Part of me either wants a straight used or a MNH. Even a filler stamp would make it easy. I guess in the long run a Mint with a little hinge at $35 will not break the bank.

BTW Do you like worldwide stamps? I have been having problems figuring out what you can use.

I just realized I need an unused C3...
If you decide not to purchase that one, I'd be
interested. Assuming this request wouldn't be
stepping on any toes.

I could care less if a stamp has been hinged, as
long as it didn't damage it. I don't see a big deal.

Here are my early airmails. I am missing 2
from the Jennys. The C1 is low and I might
want to replace it one day. But I'd like to
get all 4 first, then worry about upgrading
them to perfection.

For my fun U.S. collection, I would consider the 8 cent and 15 cent perfectly acceptable. The 10 cent I would call marginal and the 6 cent unacceptable unless I could get it at a price that would allow me to feel good using it as a filler until something better came along. Of course, you then have the question of what to do with the filler!
