Just remember that rubbing alcohol is flammable as well. It also has a nearly invisible flame. I've had some success in just letting the self adhesive stamps soak in water for several days. Using warm (not hot) water sometimes helps as well.

Update: The flags of our Nations stamps are the ones with the gooey glue. You put the baby powder on these and it kind of thickens it up
to wipe or rub off. then you might have to put a little more lighter fluid on the stamp then put on more baby powder. And there might be a difference between the Flags series one and series two stamps. I have to check on them some more.
Have just about 20 of them. also did a Mt. Rushmore priority
mail . it looks so good that you can't tell if it's a Mint no gum
or not.
Also about using water the Star wars stamps have a tendency to
have bits peel off by being water soaked.

Guess what! The Great lakes Dunes stamps are doing the same
thing as the Flags of Our Nation. Bet it's Jack-Ashton Potter.
