Dear e-rock-in,

Hello and Happy New Year to you! Welcome to this stamp group!

You have some nice USA stamps there. Some are valuable and some look not so valuable.

Why don't you post an entry in the "Introduce Yourself" section. I think all of us would like to learn more about your stamp collecting interests and have a chance to welcome you to the group.

For identification purposes you can find several on-line sites that show USA stamps and help identify them.
Here is a quick and easy way to get the Scott catalog # and find out the year that each stamp was issued:
http://www.mysticstampcatalog.com/

There are different catalogs that people around the world use to identify and catalog stamps, but for USA stamps I think Scott catalog is the most popular. Also if you search through some other posts in this group you can find other sites people have given that identify USA stamps.

Hope to see more posts from you!

Kind Regards,

Dave N.

I like img 4286, the 12 cent Henry Clay you don't see everyday. the condition looks decent. Also img 4327 the postage due. Looks very nicely centered. Looks good.

It's true that some are in rough shape but over-all it's a pretty nice collection respectively. Just a footnote here; money is not a good (or even recommended) motivator for collecting stamps. Having said that someone somewhere must have worked diligently on that little collection. What a stamps book value is is usually a far cry from "real world" values- normally 10% of catalog IF the condition is great. You have some of the higher denominations in some of the sets so that will help you out but the large banknote issues will require large scans (and not photographs) to properly ID because of the "secret marks". I hope you will stick with collecting and not be too concerned with the money. We see people all the time that show up with grandpa's old collection and have dollar signs in their eyes only to be told their collection is about worthless and never post again. So it's understandably hard for someone to sit down for hours and hours and ID everyones whole collection just to see them on an auction site and trying to unload them for a quick buck or two. My suggestion is to introduce yourself in the introduction section and start reading up on your material. You just may find that the history behind your stamps is far more "valuable" that any potential monetary gain. Welcome aboard!

Thank you for your response to me was very pleasant. Collection gathered during the Soviet era and those standards was unique because for stamps made out of the Soviet camp could go to jail. Not to mention the fact that the price for some reached half of the monthly salary.
Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate.
