My aunt recently died and has left an extensive stamp collection. What is the best way to have it valued and possibly sold? Should it be taken to a shop that buys stamps or a private dealer or something else that I have not considered?\
Brenda try to find another stamp collector or a stamp club where you can get impartial advice..see if your relative had any stamp collecting friends...i am afraid if you go to a dealer without knowledge they have all the advantage...
Brenda...I think it would be best for you to give me the collection and know that someone will be caring for and loving the collection the way your Aunt did...OK so if warm and fuzzy doesn't work for you...don't sell it until at least 2 if not 3 dealers have made you offers...if the stamp market is as primed as they say it is then perhaps you can get a price war going on between the dealers. I agree with those who posted before though go to a group and get an idea of what you've got then take the time to play the game... you will get more for the collection this way.
