This is a Scott 13c Eagle w/Shield, SC# 1596, (design A999). The Stamp on the left I think is a SC#1596b, yellow omitted. Some opinions please. It was in a .10 grab at a stamp show I attended last fall and I am staying warm doing a preliminary search for good stuff.

The overall dullness of the other colors on this stamp indicate to me that it has been put under the influence of some outside substance. It could be either sunlight, artificial light, or chemical in nature.
The first thing I would recommend is putting both stamps under UV to observe any differences and possibly any unusual fluorescence. If it was a chemical change the UV will show it quickly.

Revcollector & Eyeonwall: Thanks for the look see. I put them under a stronger light side by side and found some mottling the appears to be a substance spilled on the stamp that dried (and possibly scrapped off). This mottling is not apparent on the majority of the paper surface. I agree, not a 1596b. Thank you
