I attempted to order some of the Spectrum Eagles in the 25-stamp strips this morning. My first surprise was that, because I was ordering more than one strip of 25, I needed to talk directly to someone at the SFC. Once they transferred my call to that location, I learned that the SFC would not accept payment by credit card for precanceled stamps. I need to mail an order to the SFC along with a personal check. Times have definitely changed. Added: Have heard from several others who have had no problem purchasing these coils. Am guessing that I just got unlucky & happened to talk to the wrong person at the wrong time.

I do not understand, the SFS readily accepted my AE when I ordered the strip. I ordered a few other stamps with strip on 10/29. I got 2 confirmation #'s, they charged for already issued items plus the $1.30 and on 8/30, the next day they charged the 6.25 for the strip. I used item # 788531. |

As I said before you ask a question or attempt to order something and you'll get many answers back. |

I also found out in Sweden there are no post offices in the out lying areas of Sweden. Stamps are only available in supermarkets. Stockholm might be an exception but it was too far for my friend to drive.

JLLebbert, Acanalizo, a few pages back I remarked in a thread that the "cavemen" have a big problem. The head does not have any idea what the tail is doing! And that also goes quite a lot of times for the local post offices. Every time you go and ask a question you get a different answer! Way too many rules and regulations, some of which make not a lick of sense!

Petert4522 maybe this is SFS's head & tail problem: UPDATE Seriously, I have been dealing with some form of SFS since the 50's and they have always been of help to me- sure sometimes they have wrong info like saying they will not be selling strips of 25 of the 2015 Spectrum Eagles, then the following week they are offered. They can only deal with info they are given. Whever this has happened and I placed an order for other stamps, then a format of a stamp is available soon after and I order, they only charge me for cost of stamps with no shipping if I advise them what happened. |

On Monday I went to the post office to mail a FDC package. I was pretty sure I had the right postage which consisted of the Coast Guard stamp and two additional ounces which I used the penguin stamps for. The clerk weighed the envelope and then said to me "Are these forever stamps. I've never seen them before. $1.47 is too much for this envelope. It only needs to be $.94." I was at a loss for words. She believed me and accepted it but you know you're in trouble when you know more than the postal clerk. |

Depends on whether it was considered a "package" or and envelope. 0.93 would be right for an envelope of the weight you suggested. |

Quote: you know you're in trouble when you know more than the postal clerk. I have had this experience on many occasion, this is the norm with most USPS Clerks. But I strongly believe that it is mainly due to them not receiving the necessary information from their superiors. Regards, Stampalotapus |

Stampalotapus, I agree. Plus, just think of the stamps a collector will put on mail...there are the lettered 'A" to "H' and the old Christmas stamps where there is NO indication of value.
So now, out of the blue they come out with stamps bearing tiny inscriptions for "non-machinable surcharge" and "additional ounce". I empathize with with P.O. people at the counter, even if they can be exasperating at times. |

I knew that there would be trouble when they issued that stamp. They should have left well enough alone and just had the people use the Lincoln and a penny stamp. |
