Remember, we had a Battle of New Orleans stamp issued in 2012

But a different Battle, nontheless. Surely the 1815 battle is worthy of a new stamp. But then many thought the same true of the Gettysburg Adress, so you could very well be right.

Maybe but that was the Civil War Battle- don't understand why they are both called Battle of New Orleans. In the 1815 Battle, had the British won they could possibly have laid claim to much of Louisiana Purchase. We will see.

It was mentioned on another stamp forum that a Battle of New Orleans stamp may be issued as part of the "War of 1812" series of stamps for 2015.

With today's preliminary release of 2015 new issues, the stamp design for the War of 1812 series will feature the Battle of New Orleans as shown below ... and it will be the final stamp in the War of 1812 series:

Finally we will have a couple stamps with engraved designs next year. The USPS will issue a Vintage Tulip forever stamp and a 70˘ Vintage Rose stamp in 2015. Again, as noted by Glenn Estus else where a comprehensive listing of 2015 stamp issues can be seen at the Virtual Stamp Club site at (as well as Linn's Stamp News as wt1 sited above.

I guess with the holiday travel and preparations, few have noticed that Linn's Stamp News has posted some updates pertaining to the 2015 US Stamp Schedule, including:

Lunar New Year: Year of the Ram - to be issued in January 2015 (exact date not yet confirmed) in San Francisco, CA.

The first 2015 stamp issue -- The War of 1812: Battle of New Orleans -- will be issued on January 8, 2015 at Chalmette, LA 70043. The stamps and related philatelic items (press sheets and first day covers, etc.) are now available for pre-sale at the USPS Store link shown below:

On February 21 a new Bobcat 1 cent coil will have a First Day ceremony at the Aripex stamp show. This is probably going to be a re-print of the earlier Bobcat coil, by a different printer? As soon as I find out more I will post it here.

I was not aware that the USPS had a FDC ceremony for reprints. My understanding is a reprint is a new printing of a postage stamp from the original plates. I know in 1997, the 1996 Hanukkah stamp was reprinted (both have 1995 date) and there was no FD ceremony. Could it be for some reason the USPS is making new plates? But even then, why would it have a FD ceremony?

As I understand it, the previously issued 1-cent Bobcat stamps were in 3K coils (PSA) and 10K coils (WAG). The new 2015 issue is supposed to be in 10K coils (PSA) and would also carry the 2015 date on it.
