I have never heard of him, but he was on the recruiting committee of the APS in 1892. No. 2066 was his.

Very nice cover, Dan!

And a very nice 2c Washington with Flags stamp (Scott 301) tied with a flag cancellation on New Year's Day (I guess the post office wasn't closed).

The 2c Washington with a Shield design (Scott 319) was issued on Nov. 19, 1903 to replace this stamp that had only been in service since Jan. 28 of the same year.

I imagine that there are far fewer advertising covers that are like yours with the Washington and Flags than any other 2c Bureau design.
