Errors of paper are created when the incorrect paper is used for the stamp's design rather than a papermaking defect. One example of this is when the watermarked paper intended for use with U.S. revenue stamps was used for the $1 Woodrow Wilson stamp (SC#832). The mistake was made sometime between 1950 and 1951 and some 160,000 to 400,000 copies are estimated to have been printed

stamp collecting just got more complicated for me I was just looking for the difference in 1882 switzerland 2c olive brown color's paper if it was white or fiber paper (think I figured it out fiber you can see the fibers) my stamps appear to be fiber ones (as it turns out the least expensive ones value about a little over a buck vs white are about $410.oo each)at any rate ran into the information above and never heard of wrong paper being used in printing errors. I suppose if there are paper errors there are people that collect them, Right?

LarryBruce, I see you mention Switzerland. If you collect them, last years Christmas stamps were accidentally printed on the wrong paper. They now come on tagged paper and on untagged paper. Thought you might want to know!

Thanks for the info - truth be known I bought 4 large priority mail boxes of worldwide/us stamps on ebay. I only collect USA and sell the worldwide to get funds to buy more USA. Those worldwide stamps seem famous for having the same stamp design but slight differences in many issues of the same thing= reminds me of our USA Washington/Franklin stamps. I had to study a bit about paper today to see what I had here, none of these stamps seem valuable out of the thousands of glassy envelopes in the lot they have been well picked over. Most valuable thing found today in stamp lot I bought-knowledge..... thanks.
