1954 US Liberty Series

I have long ignored the tagged and wet printing varieties of this series. No more , I have decided to add these to my collection. Does anyone know where I can purchase or download album pages for these varieties ?

Better add the small hole Bunker Hill Monument coil to your list. I think it carries an even larger premium than the Jefferson silkote.

Don't forget there's also a "small hole" and "large hole" variety of the 1-1/4c Palace of the Governors Coil (1054A), the 2-cent Jefferson Coil (1055), the 3-cent Statue of Liberty Coil (1057), the 4-cent Lincoln Coil (1058) and the 4-1/2-cent Hermitage stamp, even though the "hole size" variety is not significant enough that it is listed with a separate number in the Scott Catalog. In the case of the 3-cent Liberty Coil and 4-cent Lincoln coil, the hole varieties are found in both "dry" and "wet" printings.

There are also flat and rotary press printings of the 8-cent Liberty (1041 and 1041b) and color shade variations in the 9-cent, 10-cent, 30-cent and 40-cent stamps as well.

Also, depending on how strongly you follow the Scott Catalog, they have recently moved the General John J. Pershing Stamp (formerly No. 1042A) out of the Liberty Series and into the Regular Issue Series of 1961-66 (now renumbered 1214).

The look coil is very affordable except for a line pair. That is a couple of hundred dollars.

My Liberty Series: Nothing spectacular and I don't have even most of the varieties but never-the-less I am pleased with what I have.

For whatever its worth, the Scott Catalog editors have removed the 8-cent Pershing Stamp from the "Liberty Series" and moved it into the 1961-66 Definitive Issues. They have also changed the Scott Catalog number (formerly 1042A) to 1214.

Whether or not you choose to include the Pershing Stamp in the Liberty Series comes down to personal preference, but it will not be listed as part of that series in future Scott Catalogs.

A few years ago in cleaning out my grandfather's house we found a box of old letters. The letters didn't amount to anything, but it was a gold mine for stamps as far back as the 1930s and especially the 1954 Liberty Series. There were at least 10 different denominations and varieties from the series. I was having as much fun as a pig in...well...mud!

I realize that this is a little off track (or not) but in looking at my 2006 (33rd edition) of the US Postal Guide they still list the 8c Pershing in the Liberty Series. Now my questions is was it listed as such AFTER Scott 'removed' it from the series and changed the catalog # or do more current US Guides still list the 8c Pershing as part of the Liberty Series?? (I am considering purchasing a new guide this year {I have the 1st issue & some subsequents as well}

The change of moving the Pershing stamp out of the Liberty Series was announced by Scott on 10/01/2012 so presumably (not guaranteed) the 2013 edition and those that follow will report the change.

I didn't buy a 2013 Postal Service Guide of US Stamps (too expensive, since they went up in price) so I'm not sure if it has been reflected there or not.

My 2013 Scott Specialized does make the change and there is notation in the Liberty Series to that effect that reads:
