I have been researching on Swedish Tiger but still unsure on these 2; especially the deep brown one. The back picture tells how dark the paper is. Any help on the ID of these guys would be appreciated. The back pictures switched from a position standpoint.

UR front view...looks closer to #75 but toned paper

appreciate it Kevin. I'll see if I can get better scan. Could it be that toned? The paper also seems a little "stiff" compared to the 76.

I'm going to give readers an easy tip about the 5c 1862-63 stamps that is virtually always true. The area above Jefferson's head, in the vignette; on #76 (and shades) that area is virtually always finely printed and the crosshatching design is sharp, whereas on #75 and shades, that area is usually "muddy" or fuzzy. That information was only ever published by Lester Brookman and only as part of the Addendum of the book, which is why it is often overlooked. But whenever you get confused about which Scott number stamp you have, remember this tip!

Thanks Bill! That being said it does look like I have a #75 and #76 as the crosshatching is much sharper on the 76. On the #75, why is the paper so dark. I have not seen that before. Could it simply be toned like Kevin suggested or is the some type of variety that I have been unsuccessful researching?

Paper looks badly toned. And it is difficult to say for sure if you have a #75 as the scan is not sharp enough. What dpi do you scan the stamps at? You should use 1200 if possible (not always, just for posting here). For listing online, I use either 300dpi or 600dpi. You can solve it pretty easily by simply sending me the stamp to ID next time you send something....
